The Trademark Public Registry (TMPR) is an online platform where you can register a trademark at an international level
The Trademark Public Registry (TMPR)is an online platform where, through smart contracts, you can register a trademark at an international level and tokenize it as a non-fungible token, NFT.
International lawyer Giovanni Caporaso Gottlieb, from Caporaso & Partners law office explains that: “The Trademark Public Registry (TMPR) doesn’t substitute national and international trademark registries, but does offer trademark holders a legal support, with worldwide validity.”.
Before TMPR, you could only request international registration in 124 countries that form part of the Madrid System. One of the biggest disadvantages of this process is that many countries don’t recognize the Madrid System of the WIPO, among them several from South America and many from the Middle East.
With the TMPR, you’ll have a certain date, on a blockchain, at worldwide level, that will serve as a basis for any international claim.
This platform protects trademarks registering them as NFT on the Ethereum blockchain. The information entered into this chain can’t be modified, so the person has a certificate that indicates the exact date on which he registered his trademark.
This certificate can be used in court in case of litigation over the ownership of a trademark.
TMPR is an innovative TradeMark Public Registry
The approach of TMPR, the International TradeMark Public Registry, offers various advantages.
First, the user receives an exact date of his trademark’s inscription in this registry. Given that this registry is on the blockchain, this information can’t be altered. The trademark’s conversion into an NFT also shares security in the property.
The NFTs have only one owner, so that the person who registers his trademark not only has the valid registration date guaranteed on an international level, but also the capacity of offering guarantees to possible buyers about who is the real owner of the trademark.
Furthermore, the TMPR platform uploads the logo to the interplanetary Filing System (IPFS). This is a project that consists in a network of computers, distributed around the world, in which decentralized information is stored.
This guarantees the permanent availability of the logo, since multiple copies are created in the nodes that support the IPFSnetwork.
Any person in the world can register their trademark in the TMPR. The process is simple, doesn’t take much time, and is much cheaper than traditional registries.
Very fast registration process
With TMPR it’s possible to simultaneously register the logo or the image of the service or product linked to the trademark. To do that, all information is to be sent in a form available on TMPR, where the name and trademark logo will appear.
The first step, before registering a trademark on TMPR, is that each user must open an account in the e-wallet MetaMask. This can be done in a few seconds. Then, he will have to transfer into this wallet the 199 USDT corresponding to the cost of the registration service, plus the amount of BNB already explained, that will be used to pay for the extraction rates.
Once these two steps have been completed, the user will go on to the section My NFT on the TMPR. Once there, the system will ask you to connect to the MetaMask e-wallet to complete the payment. After this, the customer will connect the trademark with the MetaMask e-wallet through the TMPR smart contract which will be executed on the Binance Smart chain network.
This way, the trademark will be registered on the blockchain as an NFT, using the ERC 721 standard, which is a type of token from the Ethereum blockchain. Afterward, the system will upload this information to the Interplanetary Filing System (IPFS).
There is also a Marketplace on TMPR, where the owners of trademarks can sell their NFTs, and the payments will be in USDT.
Register your NFT trademark with a VIP service
Users who don’t know how to interact with MetaMask can request a VIP service, for the price of 100 USDT, and the TMPR team will take charge of the entire process of registering your trademark.
The payment is made through the e-wallet, MetaMask. This serves as a bridge between users and the TMPR. MetaMask is downloaded as an extension or plugin on the main browsers like Google chrome, Opera, Mozilla Firefox, among others, so it’s easy to use.
Before registering a trademark or logo on the TMPR, it’s advisable to investigate first on TM View and other international databases for products or services to ensure that no other person has previously registered this trademark.
Trademarks registered on the TMPR as NFTs can be marketed on the TMPR Marketplace, a space where buyers and sellers can negotiate. Payments will always be made through MetaMask, in USDT, and there are no minimum or maximum prices, since these are set between the two parties involved in the transaction.
