Germiston Veterinary Hospital was started in 1949 by Basil Henry Pappin. It was attached to his house in Cachet Road, Lambton. This was a mixed animal practice. In 1962 he was joined by Aaron Vogelnest and a satellite practice in Primrose was opened. In mid-sixties Jan Marnewick joined and a further satellite proactive in Alberante was opened. At this point the practice was still a mixed animal practice with Jan Marnewick responsible for most of the large animal work.
